I am taking Band this year because I enjoy learning about different genres of music, and learning about what their history is. I'm also in band because playing an instrument is different from any other courses because it is all about expressing your feelings through sound. Another reason why I am taking Band this year is because I plan to continue taking band until I am in grade 12.
ReplyDeleteBecause I love it. That's why I'm taking band this year. Not only that, but it's just so much fun, and I learn more than just music. Also, I think band is better than fine arts. Personal opinion.

I am taking band this year because I would like to get some more practice with my flute and so I can be with my friends. I have no classes with Kenneth, Arnie doesn't even talk to me during math, you get the point. No? Oh well, I also like going to other places like for instance, Whistler was fantastic, I cannot wait to go to Seattle especially since I basically never travel at all. So sad I know, Headstart Saturday was great! Kathy, a University student gave us a piece of paper that contains awesome steps to becoming a good flutist. She taught us how to sing while playing the flute, double tounguing, saying the notes out loud while pressing on the keys. I' m listening to Jason Mraz - I'm Yours right now. ^^
ReplyDeleteI'm taking band this year because I want to continue improving my flute playing. Things that I'm working on include tone improvement, vibrato, and speed. On a side note, I'm also really looking forward to going to Banff this year, so I hope enough people end up signing up!
ReplyDeleteI took band this year because I want to improve myself and learn more musical theories. Also, I enjoyed band last year because I got to learn and play fun pieces of music, learn about Fugues, learn how to actually play a piece of music properly, and more. This year, I hope to improve myself and continue playing fun pieces of music.
ReplyDeleteI'm taking band this year because I want to play my Trombone. More specifically, I want to play fun music linked to my trombone like 'Little Ripper' and 'Childrens March'. Though Folk Dances is fun too.
ReplyDeleteThe reason why I decided to join band this year is because for a few reasons. One, I like music. I listen to music sometimes. Second, in grade 7 I joined band playing the clarinet, but ever since my music teacher was teaching the trumpet section how to blow a higher note, I wanted to try the trumpet. But I had to wait till grade 8 to play the trumpet because by the time i wanted to play the trumpet, it was already the middle of the year.
ReplyDeleteI am taking band this year because I want to learn more about my instrument and become a better musician.I also want to learn more about music;different styles, different pieces, new notes, music reading, rhythms and to broaden my overall knowledge about playing the flute. This is only my second year learning from a teacher so I know I have lots of room for improvement.I enjoy playing the flute and look forward to learning lots this year.

When I was 5 years old, I got attracted by the crystallike piano sound and since then I started to play instruments: piano, violin, and flute. I always like to hear the music - whatever that genre is - and I didn't want to quit play the instruments even though I came here, foreign place.
ReplyDeleteSo as soon as it became time to change the timetable in grade 8, I put band class without any hesitation. And although it was the senior band I went in because of the schedule problem, I tried my best to catch up and practiced more since I didn't want to be the main problem in the band.
Even now, the way I think about music and band didn't change at all. I like music, even though I keep forget the terms because it is not used to me and despite of that weakness, I still want to make beautiful sounds as a group.
Yes, you can still make excellent sound by yourself by practicing technical skills every single day. However, when it comes to group, the sound builds up and the group can produce more powerful and secure sound by cooperating each other's instruments and sound.
That's why I am taking band this year. I want to be in the group which can produce powerful and fantastic sound so the music can impress others. And also, I want to be there to help the band to make that music.
i joined band because i did band last year and i actually like it before i thought it might be hard but now i like playing music because its fun and i can learn new things about music.
ReplyDeleteThe reason why I am taking band again, is because I enjoy it a lot. Band is really fun, because we play different types and pieces of music, each year. Even if, a piece may seem hard, I enjoy it more, each time we play it. We also go to on trips to places like, Whistler, Banff, etc. When I went to Whistler last year, I learned different things, that can help improve our playing.
ReplyDeleteI hope that this year will be MORE fun than last year, and that I will improve more.
I am taking band this year because in my previous elementary school I took band, and I found it quite exciting and very fun. I then thought that I should try band out in highschool since I have some experience in band. Now here I am, in highschool and in the band.
ReplyDeleteThere are many reasons to why I am taking band this year, but the main reason is because I absolutely love music and I want to learn a new instrument. Too be honest, I dislike drama and arts so I guess band was my only other alternative although I could have easily chosen two other electives. I am excited to see what this year has in store for me and the band tour! I hope I am able to excel on the clarinet. :)
ReplyDeleteI am taking band this year, because i like the feeling of accomplishment. From when we just started learning a song till our whole ensemble sounding beautiful and complete. I started out last year with the clarinet and although it was challenging it produces really wonderful sounds. The trips we go to are so exciting and helps take my mind off from school. It also feels great when the judicators tell us how great we sound as a ensemble and that we are the best(beginners band)in the district. Thats why i chose to continue being part of the Van Tech music program this year as a intermediate student.
ReplyDeleteBecause i wanted to learn how do use the clarinet. Also to try something i thought would be cool and awesome, and not have to take drama, and see where i can go with this
ReplyDeleteI joined band this year because I enjoy creating music as an ensemble and working together to further develop my musicianship. I also prefer band over all the other elective choices because it appeals to me more.
ReplyDeleteI really love making music. I have always enjoyed listening to it and my sisters have all taken band classes before. I always really wanted to be in a music class and I really believe that the Van Tech band is one of the best.
ReplyDeleteThis year I'm continuing band from last year. I hope this year I will improve in my clarinet skill. I also would like to go on trips with the "Band family" and have fun. My mom has played the clarinet in high school, so it is a nice thing to have the same skill.
ReplyDeleteI have always enjoyed making music and have been playing in a musical ensemble since grade 6. In grade 10 I joined the Van Tech Senior Band because I wanted to play wind band pieces and learn how to play the trombone. Now I am starting my third year in the senior band because I love to play new songs and perform at concerts.
ReplyDeleteThere are three main reasons on why i am taking band this year. I am taking band because, I enjoy playing as an ensemble, the challenge the french horn provides me always pushes me to do my very best, and I enjoy the music we play
ReplyDeleteJoining band is not about going on fieldtrips, or just having an instrument by your side to be called "cool." Its not all about that. It's more about the heart. I'd always loved music. It's something that I cannot live without. I decided to join band this year because I want to be able to play as many instruments as I can. It's like a dream; to be able to play all the instruments that exist in this world. Joining band means that I get to be a part of the music program, meaning that I could play something to show everyone about my passion. All this means that I am able to play music on stage and show off to people and say, "Hey at least I'm doing something that I love". Joining band had always been a dream.
ReplyDeleteI joined band this year because in grade 7, i was more interested in drawing and more arts and crafts. That's why i picked art instead of band. But in grade 8, i realized that i was starting to get more interested in instruments and i wanted to try out more instruments. But when i realized that, it was already too late to transfer into band. So when i was in grade 8, i decided i would join band for grade 9. So now i am trying out new instruments and having a lot of fun! That's why i joined band.
ReplyDeleteThe first form of music i have ever listened and enjoyed was Canon in D Major. Ever since then I've enjoyed and wanted to learn how to play classical/instrumental music. When I was in grade 4 i had a chance to join Strings but back then i still didn't know English so I missed that first chance. Then after years passed i went to Vantech, halfway through the year i realized there was a band class for beginners i was amazed, i wanted to join but the period was conflicted with my Schedule. I was then moved on to Band 9. Though as a beginner i find it pretty hard to comprehend the classes or catch up. Though i will try hard to catch up.
ReplyDeleteI joined band this year because i enjoyed it last year and it's the only class that doesn't get me stressed out about.
ReplyDelete(Sorry this is un peu en retard, my internet wass disconnected until today.)
ReplyDeleteI've always been one to hate missing out on things, and I feel as though I'd truly be missing out if I wasn't in band.
The band program offers a unique oppurtunity. We get to learn about all sorts of composers, styles of music, music history, and musical techniques. I feel as I've learned a 'great deal' in band, not exclusive to music related knowledge.
The VanTech! Band Program is made up of a mosaic of students from grade eight through twelve. Mainstreamers, Flexies, Summits, and Frenchies come together to create something. I've made friends with people I otherwise wouldn't have met if it weren't for band class. I like being a part of the Bandie family.
I love music! Band helps me fill my life with music. Being in band I am exposed to all sorts of music, and am challenged by complicated pieces that I wouldn't otherwise ever encounter.
Since I have a responsibility towards the ensemble, I am consistently picking up my instrument to practice and I am continuously making music.
I need band. Amidst all my academic classes, band serves as a release. During the hour and twenty minutes of class, my other worries are pushed aside. Unlike, say, calculus or history, it is a class with a concrete product. To hear us play a piece fills me with a sense of accomplishment.
I'd like to think band needs me. As a senior player and section leader, I feel like maybe I'm a little bit important to the music program. And it is nice to be needed.
I'm taking band because it's so completely different from anything else I do.
ReplyDeleteOne minute you're stressing over getting a certain bar right, and the next you're killing yourself laughing over one of Mr. Reid's random musical analogies... When we play a piece through, and we've really, really got it down... and you realize just how good we sound, and what we've accomplished...
Band brings out abilities in you that you never knew you had...
I am taking band this year because I wanted to join since I enjoy playing music, the electives that I chose are the only ones that satisfy me, my friends wanted me to join band, time seems to fly when I play music and I like to play different kinds of instruments
ReplyDeleteThe reason I'm taking band this year is because it's something I've liked doing since I was grade in grade 5. I've always enjoyed playing music and it's a way to keep me committed to something. I don't know what other course I would take if I didn't take band and its something I plan to stick with for a long time to come.
ReplyDeleteI joined band this year, because I like to play the flute and I would really like to continue learning it and improving on it. I personally like band, and I like to create music with everyone else.I believe that in band, I am able to express myself through the music I play for the whole ensemble, which is great. Also, in band, I am able to participate the most out of any class I have, because I participate by playing, and it feels good to me that I know that I've tried. So, for me joining band three years ago in elementary was not a wrong decision.
ReplyDeleteAww man, Gmail thinks that nicenet is spam. Better late than never I suppose...
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I took band this year because I enjoy playing the tuba. Simple as that. In addition, I've sort of taken an interest in musical theory (especially rhythm theory) over the summer and I'm taking up the guitar as well. Hopefully band can help me understand better the theoretical aspects of both those areas.
I'm taking band this year because I've been doing band since grade 6 now... I'd be sad without it. Getting a piece of music down that you enjoy playing - There's almost no better feeling in the world.
ReplyDeleteI joined band this year(and every year until i graduate) because of the joy it brings to me:D, and in elementary school i liked music class, but was always learning something i didn't enjoy playing. Also looking for new challenges and learn more than just the drum kit and snare. And I don't want to be called just a drummer, but instead a percussionist, which is what i want to first of all learn, then improve in.
ReplyDeleteFirstly, I am taking band this year because I can learn new instruments and gain experience. Secondly, I just love playing music. It makes me tranquil, excited, and happy. Lastly, I enjoy the thrill of playing at concerts, and going on tours.
ReplyDeleteI am taking band this year because I love love love music! Also because I like learning new music and improve my playing technique (not sure what to call it). I find it very calming too,(:
ReplyDeletei joined band this year because ive been in it since grade 8. another reason is that i have wanted to be an assistant section leader since grade 10 and i love playing anything thats written by eric whitarce and percy grainger.
ReplyDeleteI am taking band this year because I find being able to make music enjoyable. The experiences in band I have had over the past 2 years only add to my excitement to be in band this year. As well, being in band makes me feel more relaxed, due to my other courses being more stressful with homework and whatnot.
ReplyDeleteSimple, to make music.
